NBA JALINGO ELECTS NEW EXCO

 The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo Branch, has elected a new executive council, with Dr. Daniel Philemon Saredau emerging as Chairman.

The election, held on Saturday, also produced other executive members, including Musa Danji Mohammed as Vice Chairman; Nasiru Muhammad as Secretary; Musa Hosea as Assistant Secretary; Longs Lugnan Takdok as Public Relations Officer; Madinatu Alhaji Kabiru as Treasurer; Fonga Umaru Fonga as Welfare Secretary; Mujahid Mukhtar as Provost; and Thomson D. Tahir as Social Secretary.

The chairman elect Saredau, who spoke shortly after his election, said his administration would prioritise the digitalisation of bar practice to improve public access to the association’s activities and enhance service delivery to members.

He disclosed that the branch plans to leverage technology through the creation of a website and a digital members’ portal that will enable lawyers to access resources and make payments online.

“Our desire is to lift the bar,” he said, noting that strengthening the welfare of members and promoting the rule of law would remain central to his leadership.

The chairman-elect also emphasised the need for strategic engagement with government and other critical stakeholders to promote public interest advocacy and ensure accountability in governance.

He assured that the branch would sustain its commitment to human rights advocacy, social justice and improved access to justice.

Saredau further pledged to strengthen collaboration between the bar, the bench and security agencies, describing such partnerships as critical to enhancing the administration of justice.

“Our predecessors have done their best, but we intend to build a stronger relationship among all stakeholders in the justice system,” he said.

He added that his administration would pursue infrastructure development, including plans to upgrade the bar centre and construct a guest house to improve members’ welfare.

“We also aim to create opportunities for social and recreational activities to give members avenues to unwind beyond legal practice,” he stated.
