Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has inspected the ongoing reconstruction and remodelling of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital, Jalingo.

The Governor was received on arrival by the officer in charge of the project, Dr. Femi Aweh, and the Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Muhammad Mustapha. He was conducted round the facility to assess the level of work completed so far.

Speaking during the inspection, Dr. Femi Aweh disclosed that the reconstruction work had reached an advanced stage, with delivery expected by August or early September 2026. He said all materials and equipment required for the project are already on site.

Dr. Aweh added that the contractor is carefully monitoring weather conditions to ensure smooth progress and expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He noted that the project has continued to enjoy maximum support from the state government.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bodiya Buma, clarified that the Specialist Hospital remains the property of the Taraba State Government and has not been sold to any individual or organisation.

He stated that the project is fully financed and being executed directly by the state government under Governor Kefas, whom he described as passionate about providing effective healthcare services for the people of the state.

Dr. Buma revealed that the contractor has been adequately mobilised, adding that about 90 per cent of the contract payment has already been made. He emphasized that the government cannot afford to keep the hospital closed for an extended period and assured residents that medical services would resume immediately after the project is completed.

The Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Muhammad Mustapha, commended the Governor for initiating the project and personally inspecting the level of work done.

Governor Kefas was accompanied on the inspection visit by several commissioners, political appointees, and other government officials.
