Sale Mamman: Family Protests 75-Year Sentence, Says Convicted Ex Minister Critically Ill

The family of former Minister of Power, Engineer Saleh Mamman, has expressed concern and disappointment over his 75-year jail sentence following his conviction for alleged N33.8 billion fraud, even as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) intensifies efforts to secure his arrest by placing him on an international watchlist.

In a statement made available to Taraba Truth and Facts, the family raised questions over what it described as the accelerated handling of the trial, citing unresolved issues relating to documentation and evidentiary linkage presented during the proceedings.

They also disclosed that Mamman is currently battling serious health challenges, appealing to the public for prayers and restraint while his legal team reviews the judgment with a view to filing an appeal.

The development comes amid a sweeping crackdown by the EFCC, which has now declared the former minister wanted across international law enforcement networks.

Sources within the anti-graft agency confirmed that Mamman has been flagged across security agencies and border control systems, with directives for his immediate arrest at any point of entry into Nigeria.

The move followed a fresh arrest warrant issued by an Abuja High Court after Mamman failed to appear before the court to face new charges involving an alleged N31 billion fraud.
