Yakubu Assumes Office as Chairman of Taraba Scholarship Board, Pledges Reforms
A new chapter in Taraba State's education sector began on Tuesday as Hon. Bashir Abubakar Yakubuformally assumed office as Chairman of the Taraba State Scholarship Board.
The handover ceremony, held in Jalingo, marked what stakeholders described as a step toward strengthening scholarship administration and expanding access to education in the state.
In his inaugural remarks, Yakubu thanked AgbuKefas for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as a call to service at a critical time in the state's educational development.
He stressed that education remains key to sustainable growth, noting that scholarship programmes play a vital role in empowering citizens and driving socio-economic progress.
Yakubu pledged to reposition the board into a more responsive and transparent institution, with a focus on inclusiveness and impact.
He said his administration would prioritise expanding scholarship opportunities, especially for underserved communities across the state.
The chairman also called for cooperation from staff of the Taraba State Ministry of Tertiary Education and the Scholarship Board, emphasizing the need for teamwork, accountability and professionalism.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, Hon. Nura Dantsoho, commended the governor for the appointment, describing it as timely and appropriate.
He urged Yakubu to lead with integrity and vision, adding that effective policies and programmes would further strengthen the education sector in the state.
Dantsoho also pledged his support to the new chairman as he assumes leadership of the board.
