Media Team Defends Tanko-Yusuf’s Performance in Takum I Constituency

The media team of the member representing Takum I Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Tanko-Yusuf, has dismissed claims questioning the quality of his representation, insisting that his record reflects measurable progress and people-oriented interventions.

In a statement, the ATY Media Team said while constructive criticism is essential in a democratic setting, such engagements must be based on verifiable facts, objectivity and fairness.

The team maintained that since assuming office, Hon. Tanko-Yusuf has demonstrated commitment to addressing key challenges in the constituency, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure and human capital development.

According to the statement, the lawmaker took proactive steps to tackle insecurity along the Takum–Manya and Takum–Wukaricorridors by sponsoring a motion of urgent public importance at the Assembly, highlighting the plight of affected communities and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

It added that the intervention, coupled with consultations with security agencies, led to the establishment of six security checkpoints along Takum–Manya Road and eight along Takum–Wukari Road, significantly improving safety and movement in the area.

The media team also highlighted several infrastructural projects facilitated in collaboration with the Taraba State Government under Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, including the provision of six boreholes in Chanchanji Ward, two transformers and one borehole in Dutse Ward, and four boreholes in Gahwetun Ward.

Other projects listed include the construction of a linked bridge in Rogo Ward to improve connectivity, as well as the installation of 50 solar-powered street lights and facilitation of two transformers in Manya Ward through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

"These projects have directly improved access to clean water, electricity and safe infrastructure, positively impacting the daily lives of the people," the statement said.

Beyond infrastructure, the team noted that the lawmaker has also prioritised human capital development, including the sponsorship of students on scholarships, provision of transportation support, and facilitation of pensionable employment opportunities for qualified constituents.

The statement further argued that unlike previous approaches that focused on individual empowerment through material distribution, Hon. Tanko-Yusuf's representation is centred on sustainable, community-driven development with long-term benefits.

It described the lawmaker, a first-time member of the Assembly, as vibrant, courageous and outspoken, adding that he remains committed to delivering effective representation.

The media team urged members of the public to engage constructively in political discourse, stressing the need for unity, progress and the overall development of Takum I Constituency.
