Gov Kefas’ Defection to APC Will Secure Taraba’s Future — Youth Movement

A coalition of youths under the banner Dr Agbu Kefas Is My Political Party Movement has called on Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying such a move would protect the long-term interest of the state.

The youths staged a peaceful road march on Monday in Jalingo, urging the governor to align with the party that controls power at the federal level for what they described as "strategic advantage" in national policymaking and resource allocation.

Speaking to journalists during the march, the State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Gemi Kenneth Lainga, said the call was driven by the need to strengthen Taraba's influence at the national stage and ensure continuity of the governor's development programmes.

"This call is not about partisan politics but about Taraba's future. The APC currently holds the instruments of federal power, and joining the fold will open broader avenues for the continuation and expansion of the governor's developmental agenda," he said.

Lainga further praised Governor Kefas for what he described as exemplary leadership, peace-building initiatives, and mass-oriented governance that have earned him support across party lines.

Another member of the group, Peter Yuguda, who also spoke to reporters, cited achievements of the Kefas administration in infrastructure, education, and healthcare as justification for the call. According to him, aligning with the ruling party would ensure these gains are sustained and expanded.

He stressed that the appeal was "not driven by electoral calculations but by the collective desire of Taraba youths to see the state benefit more from federal cooperation and partnerships."
