Hon. Sadiq Tafida Empowers Farmers with ₦25M Worth of Fertilizer for Rainy Season Farming

As part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security, the Member representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency, Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida, has launched the distribution of fertilizer worth ₦25 million to farmers across the constituency. 

The initiative, which covers the distribution of 550 bags of fertilizer, is targeted at supporting farmers during the ongoing 2025 rainy season, a critical period for cultivation across the region.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, where he was represented, Hon. Tafida described the intervention as part of his broader constituency development agenda focusing on agriculture, empowerment, and economic sustainability.

"Our farmers are the backbone of our economy. At this crucial period of the planting season, it is our duty as representatives of the people to stand by them, support them, and ensure they succeed," Tafida said. "This fertilizer distribution is a direct investment in food security, poverty reduction, and grassroots development."

The distribution is being carried out in partnership with district heads (Dagacis) and local stakeholders in Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing Local Government Areas, to ensure fairness and transparency.

According to Tafida, working closely with traditional and community leaders will not only guarantee equitable distribution but also foster accountability and community ownership of the intervention.

Beneficiaries and community leaders present at the event lauded the lawmaker for the timely gesture, noting that it would greatly enhance productivity, particularly for smallholder farmers who struggle with the high cost of farm inputs.

Party stakeholders and residents described the move as a demonstration of "genuine leadership" that responds to the real needs of the people.

The fertilizer distribution is one of several interventions Hon. Tafida has rolled out in recent months, with more programs in agriculture, youth empowerment, and education reportedly in the pipeline.
