Peace Has Returned to Ussa, Our People Now Go To Farm’, Elder AndetsiyamHails Under Governor Kefas' Leadership

The Secretary of the PDP Elders Forum in Ussa Local Government Area, Mr. Andetsiyam Apwenchap, has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for restoring peace and security to the once-troubled communities in the area.

In an open letter, Mr. Apwenchap expressed joy over the return of normalcy to Ussa, which had for years been plagued by violent clashes and mass displacement. According to him, prior to Governor Kefas' assumption of office.

He said the Kuteb land was "synonymous with bloodshed and displacement" during a prolonged crisis that claimed many innocent lives, destroyed farmlands, and disrupted livelihoods.

"For over five long years, our people were unable to access their farms, crippling their means of livelihood and plunging them into despair," Mr. Apwenchap stated. "But with Governor Kefasin office, a new chapter has unfolded."

He noted that the current peaceful atmosphere across the local government is a direct result of Governor Kefas' commitment to peacebuilding, citing the governor's military background and strong grasp of community dialogue as key factors in the success of the peace initiative.

Mr. Apwenchap also praised the role of Ambassador Peter Shenwun, Chairman of Ussa Local Government Area, describing him as one of the governor's "trusted lieutenants" whose hands-on leadership helped stabilize the area.

"Ambassador Shenwun has prioritized commitment and sacrifice over comfort. He has remained on the ground, working closely with the people to ensure that peace is not only achieved but sustained," he said.

He further noted that many displaced persons have now returned to their communities, IDP camps have largely emptied, and farming activities have resumed.

"The joy of seeing our people back on their farms cannot be overstated," he added.

Residents across Ussa have continued to express gratitude to Governor Kefas and Ambassador Shenwun, praying for their continued success and the consolidation of peace in the region.

Mr. Apwenchap concluded by hailing their efforts as a "new dawn of peace and security" and affirmed the hope of the people in sustained progress under their leadership.
