Gov Kefas Pays Surprise Visit To Specialist Hospital, Pledges Sustained Intervention
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has undertook an unscheduled visit to the Taraba State Specialist Hospital in Jalingo, with the aim of personally assessing the condition of the healthcare facility.
Speaking during the visit, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Maiangwa Alex, described the governor's visit as a significant milestone in the history of the institution.
He noted that the governor toured several key departments, including the Emergency Unit, Laboratory, Maternity Ward, and Eye Clinic, to observe firsthand the state of facilities and quality of services being rendered.
Dr. Maiangwa revealed that the hospital's Dental Unit has already been renovated to world-class standard under the leadership of Governor Kefas, with the installation of modern tools and infrastructure.
He added that the governor has assured management that similar comprehensive upgrades would be extended to other departments in phases.
In a display of compassion and commitment to healthcare delivery services, Governor Kefas made a cash donation for the immediate procurement of essential drugs.
He directed that the drugs be used to treat patients who are financially disadvantaged, pledging to institutionalize this humanitarian gesture as a monthly routine to alleviate the burden on indigent patients.
Dr. Maiangwa expressed heartfelt appreciation to the governor for his swift intervention, describing it as a beacon of hope for the institution.
He disclosed that the hospital has been instructed to compile and submit a comprehensive list of urgent needs—particularly in the laboratory and radiology units—for government attention in the coming week.
