'Mambilla Baptist Hospital Distressed, Can’t Pay Workers’

Management and staff  of the Mambilla Baptist Hospital Gembu in Sardauna Local Government Area are battling hard to save the health institution from collapse as the hospital faces hard times.

 

 

Taraba Truth and Facts gathered that the Missionary Hospital  have not been paid salaries for about  nineteen months due to the financial predicament faced by the Hospital.

 

The check further revealed that the problem of the Hospital started when the First Mambilla Baptist Church Gembu had an internal crisis where the Kaka tribe decided to exit the Church and formed their church known as Global Baptist Mission.

 

As the problem continued, some staff of the Hospital who are not of Mambilla tribe decided to leave and the aggrieved tribe stop patronizing the services of the Hospital, a situation attributed to setback of the Hospital.

 

The Director Nursing Services, Eric Ndi said the challenge begin when the Hospital was not having doctors, adding that the none payment of salary had greatly imposed the staff into difficulties saying they find it difficult to pay school fees of their children among other challenges.

 

The Deputy Medical Director of the Hospital, Helica Samuel Gali said the challenge started when the Hospital lost two of its experience doctors and a Pharmacist, disclosing that the leaving of foreign doctors also attributed to the setback of the Hospital, noting that all hands are on deck to keep the Hospital afloat.

 

She said the management is doing its best to settle the staff of the Hospital.

A resident Pastor of First Mambilla Baptist Church Gembu, Reverend Ephraim Juvoh had earlier organized a special prayers for divine intervention on the reposition the lost glory of the Hospital.

 

Juvoh also appealed to members of the church to contribute financial support to assist the medical department of the Hospital.

A community leader in Gembu on his part called for collective efforts from well spirited individuals to give the hospital a lifeline.

 "Politicians and wealthy people from Sardauna must come together to salvage the Mambilla Baptist Hospital, they should look beyond the its affiliation with the Church but sees it as one of the heritages on the Mambilla, providing health services for people irrespective of tribes and religion. The hospital was a pride because people from Cameroon and other places used to come here for treatment, its also not out of place for government to also provide some intervention because the Hospital is not for making profit but helping humanity."
