Taraba Bans Burials In Private, Residential Areas
Taraba State Government has banned burials in private and residential areas.
The ban was announced by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Yakubu Maikasuwa (SAN), who warned that anyone found violating the order will be prosecuted.
He said the ban on burial in open places and residential areas was under Executive Order No. 2 of 2026, which prohibited open burial in private or residential areas in all parts of the state.
The Attorney General explained further that except where permission is granted by the state government as required by the law, all burials must be conducted only in designated areas.
He said the law banning burial in private and residential areas was for the health and safety of citizens of the state.
He directed chairmen of all the local government areas, all traditional rulers and heads of families to ensure strict enforcement and implementation of the law.
