Four communities in Takalafiya Ward of Bali 1 Constituency have been connected to MTN network services following an intervention facilitated by the member representing the constituency, Hon. Veronica Alhassan Jaruman Bakundi.

The communities — Malam Yaro, Babajuli, Katsina and Bodel — had, according to residents, endured years of limited or non-existent access to reliable telecommunication services, affecting communication, business activities and access to information.

The intervention has now connected the communities to the MTN network, giving residents improved access to telephone and other communication services and effectively linking the communities to the wider world.

Residents of the affected communities expressed appreciation to Hon. Veronica Alhassan for facilitating the network intervention, describing it as the fulfilment of a long-standing demand.

According to the residents, successive politicians had promised to address the communication gap but failed to deliver on their commitments.

They said the intervention by the lawmaker had demonstrated what they described as her responsiveness to the needs of her constituents.

In appreciation of the development, the communities reportedly endorsed Hon. Veronica Alhassan for a second term in office.

The residents further declared that they would allow the lawmaker to determine the political direction they would take ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying they trusted her leadership and representation.

One of the residents said the communities had waited for years for access to a reliable network service, adding that the development would have a direct impact on their daily lives.

“With this development, our communities are now connected to the rest of the world,” the residents said.

The intervention is expected to improve communication between residents and their families, facilitate business transactions and enhance access to information and digital services.

The development also underscores the growing importance of telecommunications infrastructure in rural communities, particularly in areas where poor connectivity has continued to limit economic and social activities.

Hon. Veronica Alhassan represents Bali 1 Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly.

The communities said the network intervention would remain a major reference point in assessing the lawmaker’s representation, adding that they would continue to support initiatives capable of improving the welfare and connectivity of rural communities across the constituency.
