KPAMBO, FIKYU TO BENEFIT FROM GOV KEFAS’ ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE DRIVE

The people of Kpambo and Fikyu Wards in Ussa Local Government Area are set to benefit from the rural road infrastructure programme of the Taraba State Government, the Executive Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, *Hon. Abershi Musa*, has disclosed.

The Chairman said the rehabilitation of the Takum–Kpambo and Fikyu roads is expected to commence immediately after the rainy season. He recalled that during his first tenure as Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, under the administration of the late Governor *Danbaba Suntai*, he personally facilitated the rehabilitation of the roads. He expressed concern that successive administrations after his tenure did not rehabilitate or sustain the roads, resulting in their gradual deterioration to the condition they are in today. According to him, the roads have now become a serious challenge to commuters and residents, making the planned intervention particularly important to the people of the affected communities.

Giving an update on the Takum–Lissam Road project, *Hon. Abershi Musa* said the contractor handling the project has not experienced any delay in the release of funds. He explained that the slow pace of work is largely due to the heavy rainfall in the area. He expressed confidence that work would gather momentum after the rainy season and that the project would be completed and commissioned by Governor *Agbu Kefas*.

On security, the Chairman noted that Ussa has remained peaceful since he assumed office in November 2025, with no farmer herder clash recorded during the period. He said those who had consistently criticised the government over insecurity have now had little to say because the situation they repeatedly predicted has not materialised.

“Those who used insecurity as a weapon to attack the government have become quiet. I am expecting commendation from our critics because Ussa has remained peaceful,” the Chairman said. He also expressed concern over some indigenes of Ussa in the diaspora who, according to him, sponsor idle minded youths to use social media to insult the government of the day. He said the administration remained focused on its responsibilities and would not be deterred or distracted by such antics or respond to unproductive criticisms driven by envy and jealousy. He appealed to those sponsoring such activities to channel their resources towards ventures that would build the youths financially, economically and intellectually, rather than encouraging them to engage in activities that offer no benefit to themselves or the community.

*Hon. Abershi Musa* attributed the achievement to the proactive security approach of his administration, coupled with the massive funding and prompt release of funds by Governor *Agbu Kefas* to support security operations in Ussa. He also acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, community leaders and residents.

The Chairman said the peace being enjoyed has had a direct impact on agriculture, as farmers have been able to cultivate and harvest their crops without fear. He noted that many communities are already recording bumper harvests, particularly in groundnut and maize production.

He called on the people of Ussa to continue supporting the administration of Governor *Agbu Kefas* and to pray for the Governor, stressing that continued peace, cooperation and development-oriented leadership are necessary for attracting more projects and opportunities to the Local Government Area.
