Karim Lamido Youth Forum Condemns Killings, Demands Urgent Security Action

The Karim Lamido Youth Progressive Forum has condemned the recurring attacks on communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, describing the incidents as “cowardly and barbaric.”

In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its leader, Comrade Tera Luther Panya, the forum expressed concern over the recent wave of violence that has led to deaths and injuries in Didango, Balasa and other affected communities.

The group warned that the continued attacks highlight the urgent need for stronger and more proactive measures by the government and other critical stakeholders.

According to the forum, the persistence of the crisis underscores the need for coordinated action involving government authorities, traditional rulers, community leaders and the youth, who it described as key actors in peacebuilding.

It cautioned that failure to adopt practical and decisive measures could lead to further escalation, resulting in more loss of lives and destruction of property.

The forum called for the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the affected areas, alongside the provision of food and relief materials to displaced and vulnerable residents.

It stressed that the primary responsibility of government remains the protection of lives and property, noting that citizens must be able to “sleep with their two eyes closed” without fear.

The group also appealed to residents of the affected communities to embrace peace, exercise restraint and explore dialogue and other conflict-resolution mechanisms.

“No man is an island. We must learn to live together despite our differences to move our local government, the state and the country forward,” the statement added.

The forum assured that it would continue to work with government agencies, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to restore peace and normalcy in the area.
