Benjamin Zantimaba (JP) has called on Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to intervene in securing the appointment of a Taraba indigene as Federal Permanent Commissioner of the Federal Civil Service Commission, insisting that it is the state’s turn to occupy the position.

In an open letter to the governor, Zantimaba alleged that the position, reportedly shared among Taraba, Adamawa and Gombe states, had continued to rotate between Adamawa and Gombe, leaving Taraba out of the arrangement since 2010.

He maintained that Taraba had yet to produce a commissioner under the alleged rotation arrangement and called on Governor Kefas to investigate the matter and use his office to pursue what he described as equitable representation for the state at the federal level.

Zantimaba argued that Taraba indigenes deserved fair consideration in federal appointments and employment opportunities, expressing concern over what he described as years of inadequate representation in federal institutions.

He also appealed to the governor to support his personal aspiration for the appointment, citing his experience in the Taraba State Civil Service Commission, where he said he had overseen the office of Permanent Secretary but was not subsequently appointed substantively to the position.

According to him, his appeal was not intended to accuse or condemn anyone but to seek an opportunity to contribute further to public service and advance the interests of Taraba indigenes.

Zantimaba expressed confidence that his experience in the civil service would enable him to contribute to addressing concerns surrounding federal employment opportunities and representation for the state if appointed.

He urged Governor Kefas to consider his request and explore the appropriate channels for pursuing the appointment, subject to the relevant constitutional and administrative requirements.
