Dinshiya Should Accept Defeat, Stop Dragging Kefas Into PDP Affairs — Kente

The Taraba State Government has dismissed allegations by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Mr. David Usman Dinshiya, accusing Governor Agbu Kefas of interfering in the party’s recently concluded primary election.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Josiah Sabo Kente, the government described the claims as baseless and misleading, insisting that the governor had no role in the PDP’s internal processes.

Dinshiya had alleged that Governor Kefas influenced the outcome of the primary election that produced Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya as the party’s candidate.

Responding, Kente stated that Governor Kefas is no longer a member of the PDP and therefore could not have interfered in its affairs.

“It is dishonest and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public to associate the governor with the internal decisions of a party he no longer belongs to,” the statement said.

The government maintained that the PDP primary election was conducted by the party’s duly constituted organs, stressing that delegates exercised their right freely without external interference.

Kente described Dinshiya’s claims as an attempt to deflect from what he called an “overwhelming rejection” by party delegates, urging him to accept the outcome of the election.

“Elections are won through popularity, acceptance, grassroots support, and political credibility. The outcome clearly reflects the will of the delegates,” he said.

He added that the people of Taraba State are politically aware and capable of distinguishing between genuine grievances and unfounded allegations.

The statement further urged Dinshiya and his supporters to respect the outcome of the primary, accept defeat with dignity, and refrain from dragging the governor into PDP matters.

Kente reiterated that Governor Kefas remains focused on governance and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, with no interest in interfering in the affairs of any political party.

“The era of using respected public figures as scapegoats for personal political shortcomings must come to an end,” the statement added.
