Veteran Journalist, Ex-President of Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, Emmanuel Ukwen, Dies
The Executive Chairman of Ussa Local Government Area, Hon. Abershi Musa, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of veteran journalist and immediate past President of Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, Mr. Emmanuel Ukwen.
The Chairman described the news of Ukwen’s passing as painful and difficult to accept, particularly in view of the resilience and determination he demonstrated while battling illness.
Hon. Musa recalled that he visited the late Ukwen in March 2026 at a hospital in Yola, where he was undergoing medical treatment, and had remained hopeful of his recovery.
According to the Chairman, the death of the former Kuteb Yatso leader has come as a rude shock not only to him but to the entire Kuteb nation and beyond.
He noted that Ukwen devoted a significant part of his life to the service of his people, describing him as a committed leader who consistently pursued the collective interest of the Kuteb nation.
“Mr. Emmanuel Ukwen was a unifying figure whose leadership, wisdom, and commitment helped strengthen the bond among the Kuteb people during his tenure as President of Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria,” Musa said.
The Chairman further described the late journalist as a man of calm disposition, known for his passion for peace, unity, and justice, adding that he was always willing to stand for the cause of his people whenever the need arose.
He stressed that Ukwen’s contributions and sacrifices toward the growth and development of the Kuteb nation would not be forgotten.
On behalf of the government and people of Ussa Local Government Area, Hon. Abershi Musa extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the leadership and members of Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, and the entire Kuteb nation.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and urged the family and associates to find strength in this moment of grief.
