Bali/Gassol Stakeholders Adopt Ja’afaru Yakubu as APC Consensus Candidate as Garba-Chede Withdraws

Jalingo — Political stakeholders from Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency in Taraba State have adopted Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu Chiroma as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s primaries.

The decision was reached during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held in Jalingo, where party leaders and supporters gathered to chart a unified political direction for the constituency.

Participants at the meeting commended Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu Chiroma for what they described as effective representation at the House of Representatives, citing his developmental efforts and consistent engagement with constituents.

Speaking at the meeting, the lawmaker expressed appreciation for the continued support and cooperation from the people of Bali and Gassol, assuring them of his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy.

He stressed the importance of continuity in legislative business, arguing that experienced lawmakers are better positioned to attract development and influence policy outcomes.

Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu Chiroma also lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for ongoing infrastructural projects, including the renovation of Bali General Hospital and road works in Dakka and Gassol, describing them as impactful interventions.

In a significant development, former lawmaker, Hon. Garba Garba Chede, announced his withdrawal from the race for the Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency seat, declaring full support for Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu Chiroma and Governor Agbu Kefas.

Hon. Garba Garba Chede, who represented the constituency in the 8th Assembly, urged his supporters to rally behind the consensus candidate to ensure continuity of development in the area.

He described Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu Chiroma as a grassroots-oriented leader with a strong connection to the people and a track record of responsive representation.

Other stakeholders who spoke at the meeting echoed similar sentiments, calling for unity within the APC and sustained support for the lawmaker.

In his vote of thanks, the Commissioner for Social Development and Human Services, Hon. Phillip Habu James, commended the leadership qualities of Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu Chiroma and urged constituents to grant him another mandate.

The meeting was attended by several political figures, including Hon. Musa Abdullahi Abubakar Muwalid, Hon. Veronica Alhassan, and other party stakeholders, underscoring the broad-based support for the consensus arrangement.

The endorsement is seen as a major step toward consolidating APC’s position in the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
