The Head of Service in Taraba State, Dr. Hamidu Kara, has assured that the State Disability Commission will soon be provided with office accommodation to enhance its operations.

Dr. Kara also pledged that the commission would be fully integrated into government policies and programmes to promote inclusive development across the state.

He gave the assurance when members of the commission paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Jalingo, where they presented their request for a functional office space.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ali MatudiTerekan, said the body has been operating without a proper office since its establishment, a situation he noted has hindered its effectiveness.

Terekan also highlighted other challenges facing the commission but commended Governor Agbu Kefas for ongoing infrastructural development in the state.

In his response, the Head of Service said the government would engage relevant stakeholders to ensure the commission is adequately accommodated and effectively integrated into the state’s development framework.

He noted that inclusion of persons living with disabilities remains critical to achieving balanced development and urged the commission to collaborate with partners to expand its impact.

Dr. Kara further advised the commission to strengthen advocacy efforts and explore partnerships, particularly with non-governmental organisations, to support its programmes and improve service delivery.
