EFCC Raids Ex- Power Minister Saleh Mamman’s Residence In Jalingo

 Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly raided the residence of former Minister of Power, Engr. Saleh Mamman, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial crimes.

Sources disclosed that EFCC officials had, weeks earlier, stormed a guest house owned by the former minister in Jalingo in connection with the probe.

The development was further highlighted on April 3, when the spokesperson of a Taraba-based political group, Maman Legacy Initiative, Musa Mustapha, alleged that security operatives laid siege to Mamman’s residence in Jalingo.

According to Mustapha, the action occurred a day before a planned homecoming rally in honour of the former minister, disrupting the event and preventing supporters from receiving him.

Mamman, who was appointed Minister of Power by former President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2019 and removed from office in September 2021, is currently facing a 12-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering and conspiracy.

The charges, filed by the EFCC, involve an alleged N33.8 billion fraud, for which the former minister has submitted a no-case plea before the court.

Meanwhile, the Maman Legacy Initiative has also alleged a separate plot to prevent Mamman from contesting the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Taraba State.

The group accused unnamed “highly placed individuals” of deploying state machinery to harass and intimidate the former minister in a bid to force him out of the race.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, Mustapha claimed the alleged actions were driven by fears over Mamman’s rising political profile in the state.

He further alleged that false claims had been circulated to tarnish Mamman’s image, including reports that he stockpiled large sums of money at his Jalingo residence.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the EFCC on the alleged raids were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
