Commissioner Applauds Kefas Over 35km Road Project in Zing.

The Taraba State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Hajiya Aishat  Barde, has commended Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for flagging off the construction of a 35-kilometre road linking Zing to Yakoko, Monkin and Lamma in Zing Local Government Area.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the Commissioner described the project as a strategic initiative that will stimulate socio-economic development and improve the livelihoods of residents in the area.

Barde, who holds the traditional title of Zinariyar Mumuyawa in the Zing Traditional Council, noted that the road, when completed, would serve as a critical economic corridor, enhancing the movement of goods and services within and beyond the local government.

She emphasized that Zing is a major hub for agricultural production, with crops such as yam, potatoes, groundnuts and bambara nuts produced in commercial quantities. According to her, improved road infrastructure will significantly boost agricultural productivity and ease access to markets for farmers.

The Commissioner further stated that the project reflects Governor Kefas’ commitment to delivering democratic dividends at the grassroots, adding that the administration remains focused on inclusive development and the expansion of infrastructure across the state.

She also praised the people of Zing for their continued support for the current administration and urged them to maintain the cooperation to sustain ongoing development efforts.

Barde called on residents of the benefiting communities to work closely with the contractor handling the project, stressing the importance of safeguarding public infrastructure for collective benefit.

Governor Kefas had, on Friday, April 10, 2026, officially flagged off the construction of the Zing–Yakoko–Monkin–Lamma road as part of his administration’s broader efforts to improve connectivity and road networks across Taraba State.
