ADC Eyes 2027 Victory in Taraba, Criticises State of Governance

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Taraba State has declared its readiness to take over leadership of the state and the Presidency in 2027, expressing confidence in its growing popularity across the country.

Chairman of the party’s Transition Committee in the state, Senator Abubakar Umar Tutare, made the assertion during an interaction with journalists in Jalingo.

Tutare criticized the current state of governance in Taraba, alleging that the state lacks committed leadership with the political will to drive development.

He argued that aside from the administrations of former governors Rev. Jolly Nyame and the late Danbaba Suntai, the state has experienced what he described as “visiting governors,” a situation he said contributed to underdevelopment.

The ADC chieftain expressed optimism that the party’s increasing acceptance across all parts of the state would translate into electoral victory in 2027, adding that the party would present a credible, home-based candidate capable of winning the trust of Tarabans.

He further alleged that successive administrations have failed to deliver meaningful infrastructure and human capital development, despite the state’s abundant natural resources.

Tutare also raised concerns over the condition of Jalingo, describing the state capital as underdeveloped compared to neighbouring states like Gombe and Adamawa.

“At the beginning of this administration, many believed Taraba was fortunate, but the promises made have largely remained unfulfilled,” he said, alleging that projects initiated by the government have not been completed.

He also questioned the state’s borrowing profile, claiming that loans obtained by the government have not translated into visible development.

On local participation, Tutare alleged that indigenous contractors are being sidelined in the execution of projects, insisting that the state has capable professionals who can deliver quality work.

Responding to calls for him to contest the governorship, the former senator said he would soon make his position known to the public.

He called on residents, particularly youths, to support the ADC and avoid being used for political violence, urging them instead to mobilise for change through democratic means.

Tutare maintained that the party has gained strong acceptance even in areas considered strongholds of the ruling APC, describing it as a clear sign of possible victory in 2027.

He added that if given the mandate, his administration would prioritise debt reduction and infrastructural development to reposition the state.
