Activities Intensify at Taraba APC Secretariat Ahead of 2027 Elections
As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, activities have intensified at the Taraba State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a surge of aspirants and support groups declaring their intentions.
The party secretariat witnessed a heavy influx of political actors on Wednesday, as various groups stormed the premises to formally signal interest in contesting under the APC platform.
The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, received a delegation of stakeholders from Lau Local Government Area, who presented Hon. Irmiya Hammanjulde as their preferred aspirant for the State House of Assembly. The group pledged total support for his ambition.
In a separate engagement, the party also hosted a joint delegation from three women’s groups — the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Taraba State Chapter; Taraba Women in Politics; and the Tinubu/Kefas Women 2027 group.
The coalition advocated for increased inclusion of women in elective positions, calling on the party leadership to ensure a level playing field for female aspirants in the forthcoming elections.
Similarly, members of the Central Zone Political G5, a group mobilising support for the Tinubu/Kefas and Senator Manu political agenda ahead of 2027, also visited the secretariat to reaffirm their commitment to the party.
Responding to the various delegations, Alhaji Bawa reiterated the commitment of Governor Agbu Kefas and the APC leadership in the state to fairness, transparency, and justice in the nomination process.
He assured all aspirants that the selection of candidates would strictly follow the party’s constitution and the guidelines to be released, stressing that no individual would be disadvantaged.
The chairman commended the visiting groups for their confidence in the APC and urged stakeholders to maintain peace and decorum as the party prepares for a credible and inclusive primary election process.
