Yandang Cultural Heritage Celebrated at Sukghi Carnival 2026

The rich cultural heritage of the Yandang people took centre stage at the Sukghi Yandang Cultural Carnival 2026, organised by the Bureau for SukghiYandang Cultural Carnival.

The event, held in Jalingo, brought together community leaders, cultural enthusiasts and stakeholders to celebrate the traditions, values and identity of the Yandang people.

Speaking at the carnival, the Chairman of the Occasion, Jeremiah Faransa (Rtd), urged the Yandang people to remain united and reject every form of disunity within the community.

He emphasised the need for solidarity, noting that unity would enable the people to preserve their cultural identity while also advancing socially and economically.

Also speaking at the event, the Director General of the Bureau, David Charima, described the Yandangpeople as extraordinary and original, stressing the importance of positioning the Yandang nation for future opportunities.

Delivering the keynote address, the Manager of Nigerian Television Authority in Jalingo, Minat Isa, described the theme of this year's carnival as timely and appropriate, particularly in the face of increasing globalisation.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by traditional rulers present at the event, the Father of the Day, Jolly Nyameh, and other dignitaries who attended the carnival.

The Sukghi Yandang Cultural Carnival featured colourful cultural displays highlighting the traditions and heritage of the Yandang people.
