New Fruit Market Opens in Kofai, Boosts Local Economic Activities

 

A new market dedicated to the sale of assorted fruits has officially opened in Kofai District of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the initiative will improve livelihoods and stimulate economic activities in the area.

 

The market, which attracted traders and buyers from neighbouring communities, is expected to provide fresh opportunities for market men and women while helping to address challenges such as unemployment and social vices among youths.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Managing Director of the project developers said the market had earlier undergone a one-month trial period which proved successful, leading to its official certification as a viable commercial hub for fruit trading.

 

According to him, the initiative is aimed at creating a structured marketplace where traders can conduct business in an organised environment while expanding opportunities for local vendors.

 

Also speaking at the event, the District Head of Kofaiexpressed satisfaction with the level of organisationalready observed among the traders. He noted that the development holds significant economic potential for the district and surrounding communities.

 

The traditional ruler further commended the promoters of the market, expressing hope that the initiative would contribute to improving household incomes and strengthening local commerce.

 

In her remarks, one of the company's directors and a leading representative of women traders in the market highlighted the importance of the project in empowering women and encouraging greater participation in local trade.

 

The fruit market project was initiated by KelbenjusEvans Ventures, a firm involved in the supply and distribution of different varieties of fruits.

 

Community members at the event described the new market as a welcome development that could open new economic pathways for residents of the area.
