Group Says Danji SS Can Rescue Taraba, Endorses Him for ADC Governorship Ticket,
The endorsement was announced at a press briefing held at the Unity Hall in Jalingo by the Coalition Group of ADC (CGOA), Taraba State chapter, operating under the banner Youths for Better Governance.
Addressing journalists, Coordinator of the Coalition Group of ADC (CGOA), Taraba State, Mallam Abubakar Umar Sunkani.said its decision followed what it described as extensive consultations across the 16 local government areas of the state, involving youths, women groups, professionals, students, community leaders, traditional institutions and party stakeholders.
According to the coalition, the endorsement represents a vote of no confidence in the current administration in the state, which it accused of poor governance, lack of direction and failure to translate available resources into tangible development.
The group said Taraba State, despite receiving huge federal allocations and possessing abundant natural and human resources, has continued to witness stagnation across key sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, youth employment and economic development.
It alleged that several road projects were flagged off and abandoned, hospitals lack drugs and functional services, schools remain neglected, civil servants are frustrated, and unemployment among youths continues to rise without a clear policy response.
The coalition further accused the present administration of prioritising what it described as media propaganda and ceremonial governance over concrete service delivery, arguing that the state lacks a clear development blueprint and a record of accountability.
Describing the 2027 governorship election as a "referendum on failure versus progress," the group said Taraba could not afford another election cycle driven by excuses, imposed leadership or what it called recycled incompetence.
In endorsing Shiddi, the coalition described him as a consistent and courageous critic of governance failures in the state, citing his record as a former two-term member of the House of Representatives who represented Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency.
The group said Shiddi earned his electoral victories through grassroots support rather than incumbency or godfatherism, noting that he had won elections from opposition platforms against what it described as overwhelming political odds.
It also recalled his role in expanding opposition politics in Southern Taraba and his resistance to what it termed political marginalisation, insisting that his political career reflected resilience, credibility and loyalty to his constituents.
The coalition expressed confidence that Shiddi possesses the political will, competence and moral clarity required to address Taraba's development challenges and restore public confidence in governance.
The group called on the national leadership of the ADC, party stakeholders at state and local government levels, as well as youths, women and professionals across the state, to rally behind Shiddi's candidacy ahead of the party's primaries.
"This endorsement is not opposition for opposition's sake; it is an act of rescue," the group said, adding that the 2027 election must mark "the end of failure and the rebirth of purposeful leadership" in Taraba State.
