Brig Gen Akaliro Assumes Command of 6 Brigade Jalingo


 

Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro has formally assumed command as the 4th Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), following a change-of-command ceremony held at the brigade headquarters in Jalingo, Taraba State.

 

The colourful ceremony marked the handover from the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, who completed his tour of duty after recording notable operational achievements.

 

In his inaugural address, Brigadier General Akaliro expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to lead the brigade. He commended his predecessor for his exemplary leadership and operational successes, and pledged to sustain and build on the legacy he inherited.

 

The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists.

 

Brigadier General Akaliro assured officers and soldiers under his command of his commitment to effective administration, professional excellence, deterrence operations and exemplary leadership, adding that the brigade would be driven towards greater operational success. He also wished Brigadier General Uwa success in his new assignment.

 

Earlier, in his valedictory address, Brigadier General Uwa thanked officers and soldiers of 6 Brigade for their loyalty, professionalism and unwavering support throughout his tenure. He attributed the achievements recorded during his command to the collective dedication and tireless efforts of the troops.

 

Describing his stay in Taraba State as memorable, the outgoing commander urged personnel to extend the same cooperation and loyalty to his successor to enable him consolidate on the gains already achieved.

 

The ceremony featured the signing of handing-over and taking-over notes, decoration of Brigadier General Akaliro with the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS insignia, as well as the symbolic lowering and hoisting of flags for the outgoing and incoming commanders.

 

The event was attended by senior military officers, traditional rulers and other invited guests.
