Taraba Gets Remi Tinubu’s Mobile Clinics Under Renewed Hope Initiative

 

 

The Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday formally handed over three fully equipped mobile clinics to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Taraba State Government under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Health Support Programme, tagged "Love on Wheels."

The presentation ceremony was held at the open ground of the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, and was attended by top government officials, members of the RHI Governing Council, and other stakeholders.

Two of the mobile clinics were donated to the NYSC to support community health outreach programmes carried out by corps members across the country, while the third was handed over to the Taraba State Government to strengthen healthcare delivery in underserved areas.

Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu described the Love on Wheels project as "care in action," aimed at taking healthcare beyond hospital walls, improving access, shortening response times, and providing flexible medical services, particularly in emergencies and hard-to-reach communities.

"Today, I am pleased to officially hand over three mobile clinic units under the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Support Programme. This is a promise made and a promise kept," the First Lady said.

She recalled that the two mobile clinics donated to the NYSC were first promised on January 23, 2025, during the commissioning of the Nigerian Digital Museum in Abuja. The delay, she explained, was due to the clinics being built from scratch to meet required certifications.

Senator Tinubu further stated that the third mobile clinic was promised to Taraba State during her official visit to the state on April 11, 2025, when she commissioned health programmes for frontline health workers.

Emphasizing national unity over partisan considerations, the First Lady said the decision to support Taraba State was guided by the Renewed Hope Initiative's people-centred philosophy. She expressed hope that the mobile clinics would be used responsibly to save lives, respond to emergencies, and bring relief to families and communities.

Earlier, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Oluseye Nafiu, and the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, thanked the First Lady for the intervention, describing it as a significant boost to grassroots healthcare delivery.

The Love on Wheels project aligns with the Federal Government's broader health sector reforms, which aim to strengthen primary healthcare, improve emergency response, and support frontline service providers nationwide.
