Taraba APC Targets 300,000 Members As Gov Kefas Flag Off E-Registration Exercise

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has set a target of registering over 300,000 members in its ongoing electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise across the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas on Friday flagged off the exercise for the Northern and Central zones at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo, with party leaders, officials and supporters in attendance.

Speaking at the event, the governor said the e-registration was aimed at repositioning the party and ensuring that no member was excluded from its activities. He said the exercise would lead to the electronic revalidation of existing members and the capture of new ones into a unified database.

Governor Kefas assured party members that the exercise would proceed without hindrance, adding that he would personally monitor the process to ensure its success. He urged women and youths to participate actively, stressing that only registered members would be eligible to take part in APC activities.

Describing the APC as the dominant political party in the country, the governor called on Tarabans to register and strengthen the state's relevance at the national level. He said his decision to align Taraba with the party was informed by the need to address the state's development challenges, noting that as leader of the party in the state, he was committed to the success of the exercise.

In his address, the APC State Chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, said the e-registration exercise would provide accurate data on party members eligible to participate in party activities and elections. He commended Governor Kefas for ensuring the provision of necessary equipment across the state to guarantee a smooth process.

El-Sudi described the initiative as strategic to the future of the party, saying it would strengthen and improve the APC's membership database in Taraba.

Also speaking, the coordinators of the exercise for the Northern and Central zones said registration personnel had been adequately trained and confirmed that the exercise was already ongoing across the state. They urged party members to come out in large numbers to participate.

Meanwhile, the APC has commenced the exercise in Jalingo Local Government Area, where it is targeting 80,000 members out of the 300,000 statewide target. The commencement was declared on Monday, January 12, 2026, by the Executive Chairman of Jalingo LGA and Vice Chairman of ALGON in Taraba State, Hon. Nura Dantsoho.

Dantsoho described the exercise as critical to strengthening the party at the grassroots and called on eligible residents to register. He assured of the local government's support and monitoring to ensure a transparent process.

The Zonal Administrator for Taraba North E-Registration, Kamaldeen Adamu, urged registration agents to remain committed and work closely with party leaders and local government officials to ensure success.

The e-registration exercise, which began on January 12, is expected to end on January 31, 2026.
