Police Officer Seeks Help After Alleged Hit-and-Run by Official Vehicle of Wukari/Ibi Lawmaker

A serving police officer, Corporal Tsoken Tubasen, has appealed to the Honourable Member representing Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Ayuba Zaku Dampar, for assistance following an accident involving an official vehicle attached to the lawmaker.

According to Tubasen, the incident occurred on the morning of December 26, 2025, while he was on his way to work in Wukari, Taraba State. He said he was lawfully commuting when an official vehicle belonging to Hon. Dampar, allegedly driven by the lawmaker's driver and accompanied by a police officer, knocked him down in front of the legislator's residence.

The police corporal said he sustained injuries in the accident and was immediately rushed to a hospital. He disclosed that ₦10,000 was paid for a medical scan at the time, and he was assured that the Honourable Member would take full responsibility for his treatment.

However, Tubasen said further medical examination later confirmed that he had sustained a fracture. He added that when he attempted to reach the aides attached to the legislator to update them on his condition, he was informed that they had left and that the matter would be "reported."

He alleged that since then, there has been no follow-up or support.

"I have reached out repeatedly to Hon. Isaac Solomon, the Senior Legislative Aide, and Tonku, the Director-General, but I have not received any clear response, assistance, or direction," Tubasen said.

The injured officer disclosed that doctors have now referred him to Jos for further medical procedures after confirming a fracture of his clavicle. He said the situation has placed him under severe financial and emotional strain.

"As a police officer, my means are limited. The pain is overwhelming, and the uncertainty is distressing," he said.

Tubasen stressed that his appeal is not for charity but for responsibility and humane intervention, expressing confidence that Hon. Prince Ayuba Zaku Dampar, whom he described as a leader of conscience, would respond to his plight.

He called on the lawmaker to intervene urgently to enable him access proper medical care and resume normal life and service.
