ADC Chieftain Raises Concerns Over Ibi’s Exclusion from Ongoing Southern Taraba Road Projects

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and House of Assembly hopeful for Ibi State Constituency, Barr. Gaddafi Ibrahim Tanko, has raised serious concerns over the ongoing road projects being flagged off by the Taraba State Government under the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas, describing the exclusion of Ibi Local Government Area as unjust, disturbing, and unacceptable.

 

Barr. Tanko wondered how Ibi LGA could not secure a single penny from the over ₦134 billion earmarked for road projects across Southern Taraba Senatorial District, despite being a constitutionally recognized local government with pressing infrastructural needs.

 

According to him, the continued omission of Ibi from state-funded projects points to a systemic pattern of marginalization rather than an oversight, and raises critical questions about fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in the distribution of public resources.

 

"It is incomprehensible that out of over ₦134 billion committed to road projects in Southern Taraba, Ibi Local Government Area could not attract even one project. Are we no longer part of the district, or are our people no longer entitled to development?" he queried.

 

Barr. Tanko further faulted the constituency representative at the Taraba State House of Assembly, accusing him of slacking, sleeping on duty, and failing to effectively speak up for the interests of Ibi people.

 

"A constituency that is well represented cannot be repeatedly ignored. The sad reality is that Ibi has suffered neglect partly because its voice at the Assembly has gone silent. Representation demands vigilance, advocacy, and firmness—not slumber," he said.

 

The ADC chieftain, who is seeking to represent Ibi State Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, reaffirmed his commitment to robust, people-centred representation if elected, promising to aggressively pursue development, fairness, and inclusion for Ibi LGA.

 

He called on the Taraba State Government to immediately review the allocation of road projects and ensure that Ibi is duly captured in both ongoing and future infrastructural interventions.

"The people of Ibi deserve development, not excuses; inclusion, not neglect; and representation that is awake, active, and accountable," Barr. Tanko concluded.
