FMC Jalingo Expands Specialist Medical Services for One Month

The Management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, under the leadership of the Medical Director, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, has announced a significant expansion in specialist medical services aimed at improving access to advanced healthcare in Taraba State.

According to a statement from the hospital, FMC Jalingo will, for a period of one month, provide expanded access to a wide range of highly skilled consultant specialists across critical medical fields. The initiative is designed to strengthen service delivery and ensure patients receive timely, expert care without the need to travel outside the state.

Under the special arrangement, the Centre will have the services of the following consultants:

• Consultant Neurosurgeon
• Consultant Neurologist
• Consultant Paediatric Surgeon
• Consultant Urologists
• Consultant Psychiatrist
• Consultant Ophthalmologist
• Consultant Cardiologist
• Consultant Nephrologist

The management described the development as a major boost to healthcare delivery in Taraba State, noting that patients who previously had to travel to distant cities such as Maiduguri, Kano, or Kaduna for specialised treatment can now access such services locally at FMC Jalingo.

Explaining the scope of services, the Centre said neurosurgeons will handle surgeries involving the brain, spine, and nerves, while neurologists will manage non-surgical brain and nerve disorders such as stroke and seizures. Paediatric surgeons will provide specialised surgical care for children and newborns, while urologists will treat kidney, bladder, prostate, and urinary conditions.

Psychiatrists will manage mental health conditions including depression and anxiety, ophthalmologists will provide treatment and surgeries for eye-related diseases, cardiologists will handle heart conditions such as hypertension and heart failure, and nephrologists will manage kidney diseases, including cases requiring dialysis.

FMC Jalingo reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe, advanced, and people-centred healthcare services, stressing that the health, comfort, and satisfaction of patients remain its top priority.
