Acting PDP Chairman Obidah Bitrus Vows to Reinforce Party’s Presence Across Taraba
The Acting Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, Comrade Obidah Bitrus, has pledged to strengthen the party's presence across the state following his appointment by the National Working Committee (NWC).
The NWC approved the appointment of Comrade Bitrus on December 2, 2025, with the decision formally announced in a statement issued on Monday, December 8. The statement was signed by the PDP National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan.
According to the statement, the appointment was made in line with Section 35(3)(c) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), which empowers the NWC to make interim leadership appointments to ensure the smooth functioning of party structures at the state level.
Comrade Bitrus is expected to immediately assume office and oversee party affairs in Taraba State. The NWC directed him to operate strictly within the provisions of the party's constitution and to discharge all responsibilities attached to the office of State Chairman.
Reacting to his appointment, party stakeholders expressed optimism that his leadership would promote internal unity, strengthen grassroots mobilization, and reinforce the PDP's presence across Taraba State as the party intensifies preparations for future electoral contests.
The notice of ratification was also endorsed by the Taraba State PDP Secretary, Siman Musa Istifanus, Esq., who urged party members and supporters to give their full cooperation to the new Acting Chairman.
Comrade Bitrus is expected to commence consultations with key party organs and stakeholders in the coming days as part of efforts to reposition the party and consolidate its structures across the state.
