GASSOL LOCAL GOVERNMENT 2-YEAR SCORECARD: ACHIEVEMENTS UNDER THE VISIONARY LEADERSHIP OF HON. ABUBAKAR SADIQ
A committee set up in August 2025 to inspect projects executed by his administration confirmed widespread development across sectors, ranging from infrastructure and healthcare to youth empowerment and governance reforms.
Infrastructure Development:
Renovation of the council chambers
Remodeling of the government lodge and ICT center in Mutum Biyu.
Renovation of the Chairman's block and offices at the council secretariat.
Renovation of Mutum Biyu fruit market and primary health centres in Badija and Jauro Baba.
Construction of drainages at Mararraban Gassol and rehabilitation of Kwararrafa Road in Sabongida.
Construction of five modern stores in Gassol town.
Water & Sanitation:
Drilling of boreholes across all 12 wards.
Resuscitation of over 60 abandoned boreholes across the LGA.
Governance & Partnerships:
Presentation of the 2025 local government budget in January 2025.
Hosted a UNICEF delegation in February 2025 to strengthen healthcare delivery.
Strengthened council transparency and accountability in project implementation.
Peace & Security:
Restoration of relative peace in a council once plagued by sporadic communal clashes, which has in turn boosted economic and agricultural activities.
Voices from the Community
The Secretary General of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Gassol chapter, Comrade Okacha Goje, hailed Sadiq for aligning with Governor Agbu Kefas's youth inclusivity philosophy.
> "Despite attempts by some stakeholders to frustrate him, the Chairman's commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots development is clear for everyone to see," Goje said.
Similarly, the Councilor representing Mutum Biyu Ward A, Hon. Ibrahim Adamu Babatatu, who doubles as Chief Whip of the council, commended the Chairman for transparency.
> "His leadership has brought peace and development as collective benefits to the people of Gassol. He has restored trust in local governance," Babatatu remarked.
Hon. Sadiq pledged to continue serving the people of Gassol "with equanimity and commitment," assuring that his administration would not relent in its drive for inclusive development.
With two years already recorded as a period of transformation, residents and stakeholders say the coming months will determine how far his vision for Gassol can reshape the socio-economic landscape of one of Taraba's largest LGAs.
