Ernest Terungwa Tarbo Resumes As New Nhia State Coordinator In Taraba




The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Taraba State Office has officially welcomed a new State Coordinator, Mr. Ernest Terungwa Tarbo, who assumed duty on Monday, September 29, 2025. He takes over from Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Ardo, who had led the office since January 2023.

The appointment of Mr. Tarbo marks a new phase in NHIA's efforts to expand healthcare insurance coverage and improve access to quality healthcare services for the people of Taraba State.

Mr. Tarbo comes into the role with a wealth of professional and academic experience. He is a member of several prestigious institutions, including the Institute of Health Insurance & Managed Care of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, and the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management.

Academically, he holds a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Bingham University (2020), a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the same institution (2019), and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Economics from Benue State University (2000).

In his professional career, Mr. Tarbo has held several strategic positions, including Head of Division (System Administration) at NHIA, Head of Department (Programmes) at NHIA, and Head of Department (Marketing) at NHIA. He also had an impactful stint with the Benue State Board of Internal Revenue.

Well known for his actuarial skills in risk assessment and premium determination, Mr. Tarbo is also experienced in policy evaluation, cost-benefit analysis of healthcare programmes, tax assessment, audit, and human resource management. Beyond his technical expertise, he is an active member of the Rotary Club and has served on several state-level committees and initiatives.

Speaking on his new role, stakeholders in the state health sector expressed optimism that Mr. Tarbo's appointment would strengthen NHIA's mission of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Taraba State.

Married with a passion for traveling and research, Mr. Tarbo is expected to bring fresh ideas and renewed energy to the NHIA Taraba Office as he takes the helm.
