Ussa Basking In Mineral Wealth But Abandoned By Government — Ando Nzuta Assembly Aspirant

A House of Assembly hopeful for Ussa State Constituency, Hon. Isechap Ando Nzuta, has decried what he described as years of government neglect in Ussa Local Government Area despite the area's abundance of rich mineral resources.

Nzuta in a message to the people said it was disturbing that one of the most populated towns in Southern Taraba had continued to suffer avoidable hardship, particularly from seasonal flooding that has plagued the area for over a decade.

"For the past ten years, residents of Ussa have been grappling with devastating floods that accompany heavy downpours almost every year. This is a kingdom blessed with enormous mineral resources, yet successive governments have left our people in disrepute," Nzuta said.

He lamented that unlike other major towns in Taraba State, Ussa has no storm drainage system to mitigate erosion and control floodwaters.

"Just as other urban areas of Southern Taraba and beyond enjoy storm drainage facilities, Ussa too deserves the same. A proper drainage system will curb the adverse effects of yearly floods and safeguard our people," he added.

The Assembly hopeful appealed to the Taraba State government to urgently intervene and provide a lasting solution, stressing that the wellbeing and economic survival of the people of Ussa depend on government's swift action.
