Pensioners Affirm Mamudu Yaroas Authentic NUP Leader in Taraba State

The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Taraba State has reaffirmed that Alhaji Mamudu F. Yaro remains the authentic and recognized Chairman of the Union in the state.

This clarification was contained in a press release signed by Yaro himself and made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital.

According to him, his leadership is the only one recognized by the National Secretariat of the Union, the Taraba State Government, and all relevant stakeholders. He stressed that the clarification became necessary to caution social media users and promoters against being misled by mischief makers promoting impersonators or impostors parading themselves as NUP leaders in the state.

Yaro dismissed insinuations that his leadership was working against Governor Agbu Kefas to gain cheap publicity. He described the governor as "responsive and responsible" to the plight of pensioners, noting that the administration has been fulfilling its obligations without protests or reminders.

"Since his assumption of office, the governor has been paying gratuities and other entitlements without negotiations, demonstrations, or reminders from pensioners," Yaro stated.

He added that even pensioners abandoned by previous administrations—including local government retirees—have now been captured and payrolled under the present government, with the support of what he described as "active, well-informed and responsive technocrats." He further revealed that the government is already making moves to review monthly pensions upward in line with the new minimum wage.

Taking a swipe at critics, Yaro asked rhetorically: "All media content promoters of mischief, where were they when Dr. AgbuKefas and the technocrats were dishing out these goodies to pensioners?"

He emphasized that the current NUP officials under his leadership operate strictly within the ambit of the law and warned that any impersonators, usurpers, or mischief makers should be considered criminals and treated as such.
