NEDC Is Marginalizing Taraba State– APC Chieftain DSK
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship aspirant in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente (DSK), has accused the North East Development Commission (NEDC) of neglecting the state in its intervention projects.
Kente, who once served as Taraba's representative at the commission, said the NEDC has failed to deliver any major road projects in the state, unlike in other states of the North-East region.
"The NEDC should look at Taraba State with compassion. No single road has been done by the commission in the state, unlike what is tenable in other states in the region," Kente told journalists.
He urged the state government to engage the commission more aggressively by appointing a consultant who would liaise regularly on behalf of the governor and the people of Taraba to ensure the state benefits from the NEDC's interventions.
On the state of affairs in Taraba, Kente acknowledged the growth of the private sector with the establishment of new hotels, schools, and shopping malls, but insisted that the government must do more to support security and economic expansion.
"I have had a lot of complaints about the present administration in the state, and I have given my voice to these concerns. Definitely, the governor needs to do a lot more in the next two years," he added.
Speaking on national issues, the philanthropist and business mogul said that while Federal Government policies such as subsidy removal, naira floating, and tax reforms have caused hardship, they remain the best path for Nigeria's long-term growth.
Kente, who played a key role in the APC's recent by-election victory in Karim Lamido State Constituency, said the win was a signal that the party is prepared to unseat the ruling PDP in 2027.
"The by-election in Karim shows you how 2027 is going to be. Whoever stands in our way, we will remove with the people's vote. The APC is no longer what it used to be. We are now united and determined to take over the state in 2027," he declared.
On the opposition to President Bola Tinubu, Kente expressed confidence that no coalition can stop his re-election bid.
"I want to sound without fear of contradiction that Tinubu's victory in 2027 is guaranteed. Nigerians will queue behind our president massively, and at the end of the election, APC will sing the victory song," he said.
