Hundreds of Youths from Taraba Trained in Graphic Design

Over one hundred young people drawn from Sardauna, Gashaka, and Kurmi Local Government Areas of Taraba State have benefitted from a three-day intensive training on graphic design, aimed at equipping them with digital skills for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

The training, which took place in Jalingo, was sponsored by Green Peaks under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Phanuel Lawrence, who emphasized the critical role of youth empowerment in driving national growth and sustainable development.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Lawrence said skill acquisition was a powerful tool for enabling self-employment, stressing that young people must embrace opportunities in the digital space to become independent and resourceful. He urged participants to remain consistent in practice, build meaningful networks, and leverage technology to create jobs for themselves and others.

Also addressing the trainees, Mr. Suleiman Titong underscored the need for mentorship, explaining that digital skills not only empower individuals but also provide them with the capacity to train others and expand the impact of such initiatives.

In the same vein, Mr. Duke Alamboye, Chief Executive of C Green Assembly and Special Aide to the Minister of Youth Development, described teamwork and innovation as essential for success in today's world. He stressed that "skill is the new global currency" and called on both government and the private sector to invest more in the creativity and potential of Nigerian youths.

Project lead, Mr. Nformi Desmond, commended the sponsors for their vision, describing the initiative as a direct investment in human capital development with far-reaching benefits for Taraba State and beyond.

Several participants who shared their experiences expressed gratitude for the free training, describing it as life-changing. They pledged to continually improve their skills in order to meet the demands of the evolving digital economy.

The graphic design training is part of ongoing efforts by youth-focused organizations and partners to close the digital skills gap, reduce unemployment, and prepare young people in Taraba for opportunities in the creative and technology industries.
