Karim Lamido Youths Urge Muneerah Garba Umar to Contest Council Chairmanship
Karim Lamido Local Government Area is witnessing a surge of youth-led advocacy as members of the Karim Lamido Progressive Youth Forum have taken to social media to call on Hon. Muneerah Garba Umar UTC, a young female technocrat, to contest the chairmanship seat in the forthcoming local government elections.
The appeal, which has been trending across online platforms, follows last week's victory of a young politician in the Karim I State Constituency by-election, where he secured a seat in the Taraba State House of Assembly. According to the forum, this momentum reflects a broader shift toward fresh leadership and inclusive governance driven by the aspirations of the younger generation.
Hon. Muneerah, daughter of a former acting governor of Taraba State and a prominent APC stalwart, is regarded as a rising figure in both politics and development. She holds a degree in economics, a master's in financial economics, and another in information and communication technology. Beyond academics, she has built a solid career in banking, entrepreneurship, and social impact initiatives.
The youth forum described her as a symbol of hope, praising her qualifications as well as her generational and gender identity. They argued that her emergence would not only advance youth inclusion in governance but also strengthen women's representation in leadership.
Although Hon. Muneerah has not declared her intention to run, the mounting pressure from grassroots supporters and the growing online campaign suggest increasing momentum for her candidacy.
Political observers note that if she joins the race, her profile and support base could galvanize youth participation, energize women's political involvement, and open a new chapter in local governance in Karim Lamido LGA.
