Fish Traders Affected by Market Fire Receives 3M Donated By Bali/Gassol Rep. Ja’afaru Yakubu

Member representing Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency, Hon. Ja'afaru Yakubu, has fulfilled his pledge of ₦3 million in financial relief to fish traders who lost goods and stalls in a recent market fire.

The inferno, which swept through the fish section of the market, destroyed goods, stalls, and equipment, leaving dozens of traders struggling to rebuild their livelihoods. For many of the victims, fish trading remains their only means of supporting their families.

Shortly after the fire, Hon. Yakubu visited the affected traders and community leaders to commiserate with them and assured them of financial assistance. That promise has now been redeemed, with ₦3 million disbursed through his representatives directly to the victims.

Community members praised the gesture, describing it as timely and life-saving. Beneficiaries said the funds would enable them to restock, repair damaged structures, and restore their businesses.

"This support is not just about money — it's about being seen, being heard, and being helped when it matters most. Hon. Ja'afaru has shown that leadership is about action, not just words," one of the beneficiaries said.

The lawmaker, known for championing grassroots development and social welfare in his constituency, has over the years rolled out empowerment initiatives, youth-focused programs, and emergency interventions.

As traders begin rebuilding, Hon. Yakubu's intervention is seen as both a catalyst for recovery and a symbol of responsive leadership rooted in empathy and integrity.
