Danji SS Supporters Flood to ADC in Southern Taraba
The defection of former House of Representatives member for Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency, Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi (Danji SS), to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has triggered a wave of political realignments in Southern Taraba, with his loyal supporters and grassroots figures abandoning the All Progressives Congress (APC) in droves.
In the latest development, the APC Ward Chairman of Bilga Ward in Ibi Local Government Area, Yusuf Yuuf, on Monday resigned his position and officially declared for the ADC.
In his resignation letter, Yuuf pointed to a deep personal and ideological disconnect between the APC's current direction and the needs of his people.
"I was one of the founding members of the All Progressives Congress, and I have served diligently as a ward chairman. However, I have come to terms with a difficult truth: there is a growing disconnect between my convictions, the realities I observe, and the actual needs of the people I represent," he stated.
He explained that the decision came after "deep thought and careful reflection," while commending the APC for the platform it gave him and appreciating the support he received during his years in the party.
A copy of his resignation letter, obtained by Taraba Truth and Facts, has been forwarded to the APC Zonal Chairman for Taraba South.
Political analysts say the latest exit, coming on the heels of Danji SS's high-profile defection, is a strong indication that the ADC is fast consolidating its base in Southern Taraba, while the APC struggles to retain its grassroots hold ahead of future elections.
