LG Polls: Don’t Be Misled, Taraba Is for PDP – Bawa

 

As Taraba State prepares for the November 8 local government council elections, the State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, has urged the electorate across the 16 local government areas not to be deceived by political propaganda.

Bawa, who spoke at the PDP Secretariat in Sunkani, headquarters of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, said Taraba remains a PDP stronghold. He was accompanied by members of the state working committee on a thank-you tour to the area.

The party chairman said the visit was at the instance of Governor Agbu Kefas, who directed them to convey his gratitude for the massive support he received during the 2023 general elections.

"We have visited more than 10 LGAs, spreading the Governor's thank-you message," Bawa told party members and supporters.

"Taraba has no other political party except the PDP. Remain steadfast."

He added that Governor Kefas also extended his appreciation to traditional rulers across the state for their role in maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property.

With the council polls approaching, Bawa urged aspirants to embrace peace and conduct themselves in a manner that would win the people's confidence. He stressed that he had not endorsed any candidate, describing himself as "a father to all."

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ardo-Kola Local Government, Alhaji Ismail Zakari (popularly known as Dangote), commended Governor Kefas for his achievements in the state, particularly in security.

 

According to him, before Kefas assumed office, crime was rife, but the Governor's military background, coupled with cooperation from security agencies, stakeholders, and traditional rulers, had restored peace.

 

 "Today, our people can sleep with their two eyes closed," Dangote said.

"The youths of Ardo-Kola should continue to embrace peace—it will make you useful to yourselves."

 

He urged residents of the state and Ardo-Kola to continue supporting the Governor's administration.
