How Regional Development Minister, Uba Maigari Ahmadu Is Lighting Up Dark Spots Across Taraba

In his commitment to address insecurity and improving the quality of life for residents, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Barr. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, has taken bold and practical steps to illuminate communities across Taraba State that have for years been trapped in darkness, a situation that has often encouraged criminal activities and hindered socio-economic growth.

Recognizing the direct link between darkness and insecurity, the Minister ensured that through the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), Taraba State is fully captured among the beneficiaries of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Initiative. This intervention is not only aimed at enhancing security but also at boosting economic and social activities, creating a safer and more enabling environment for residents to thrive.

Already, several communities are beginning to enjoy the benefits of this effort with the installation of solar-powered streetlights in strategic locations. These include Akate in Donga Local Government, Takum Local Government, Rafin Kada in Wukari Local Government, Specialist Hospital Road in Jalingo, the G.R.A area of Jalingo, Gembu/Nguroje, Karim Lamido, Akate/Donga, and Justice Buba Ardo Road in Jalingo. These areas, once engulfed in darkness, are now witnessing renewed vibrancy as the lights restore a sense of safety and belonging among the people.

The Minister emphasized that this is only the beginning, as more installations are ongoing in other parts of the state. He reaffirmed his pledge to leave no community behind, stressing that every corner of Taraba deserves to feel the impact of government presence. According to him, the provision of solar-powered streetlights is not just about infrastructure, but about giving people renewed confidence to move about freely, conduct their businesses safely, and enjoy better standards of living.

With this initiative, Barr. Uba Maigari Ahmadu has demonstrated that development is not only about big projects but also about solving everyday problems that directly touch the lives of ordinary people. His intervention is a clear message that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu is reaching the grassroots and making meaningful impact across Taraba State.
