Hon. Zanau Maikasuwa Appointed MD Of Taraba Aggregation Company

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has approved the appointment of Hon. Zanau Hassan Maikasuwa as the pioneer Managing Director of the newly established Taraba Aggregation Company, a strategic institution designed to anchor the state's ambitious "Produce for Lagos" initiative. 

The appointment, announced this week, marks a major step in the administration's push to transform Taraba into a commercial agricultural hub with direct access to Nigeria's largest market.

Hon. Maikasuwa, a seasoned agriculturalist with decades of experience, previously served as the Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to Governor Kefas. In that capacity, he played an instrumental role in shaping the state's agricultural policy and advancing food security reforms. His new position places him at the helm of a program that could redefine the economic fortunes of the state.

The "Produce for Lagos" initiative is a historic partnership between Taraba and Lagos States, backed by a ₦500 billion offtake guarantee fund. The project is designed to streamline the supply of agricultural produce from Taraba directly to Lagos—Nigeria's largest consumer market. The initiative promises fair pricing, prompt payment to farmers, and a sustainable market system for local commodities.

As head of the Taraba Aggregation Company, Hon. Maikasuwawill oversee the aggregation, storage, and logistics of agricultural products from farmers across the state to designated hubs in Lagos. The goal is to cut out exploitative middlemen, reduce post-harvest losses, and provide thousands of smallholder farmers with direct market access.

Speaking on the appointment, a government official described Hon. Maikasuwa as "a tested technocrat whose track record in agricultural policy and grassroots mobilization makes him uniquely qualified for the role."

The initiative is expected to create thousands of jobs, particularly for youths, and promote economic diversification across Taraba's rural communities. Analysts say it could also position Taraba State as a key player in Nigeria's food security and agro-trade ecosystem.

Governor Agbu Kefas, who has made agricultural reform a key priority of his administration, said the state remains committed to building strong inter-state partnerships and unlocking the potential of its agricultural economy.

With Hon. Maikasuwa at the helm, the Taraba Aggregation Company is expected to hit the ground running in the coming months, as preparations intensify for the rollout of the first phase of the Produce for Lagos program.
