Taraba Celebrates as Yakubu UseniDankaro Becomes Commissioner of Police

There is widespread celebration across Taraba State and among its indigenes worldwide following the promotion of Yakubu Useni Dankaroto the prestigious rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Dankaro was among 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police elevated to Commissioners in a major promotion exercise announced on Monday, July 21, 2025. The exercise, which also saw the elevation of 12 Commissioners to Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and 27 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, was coordinated by retired Deputy Inspector General Taiwo Lakanu.

The news has drawn praise from various quarters, particularly from Taraba's youth and political leadership. One of the most heartfelt reactions came from the Taraba Youths in Diaspora (TYD), who described Dankaro's promotion as a "well-deserved recognition of excellence, professionalism, and patriotism."

"Your elevation is not only a reflection of your commitment and service to our nation but a source of pride and inspiration to all sons and daughters of Taraba State," the group said in a statement signed by its national coordinator, Adashu MarvynTanko.

The group offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and protection as Dankaro assumes his new responsibilities.

In a separate congratulatory message, Sir Michael Magaji, Executive Director of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), lauded the promotion as a testament to Dankaro's work ethic, leadership, and professional stature.
