Those Close to Senator David Jimkuta Are Misleading Him – Youth Leader
A prominent youth leader and advocate, Ambassador DanbatureAbdul , President of the Arewa Youth Assembly and a native of Southern Taraba, has raised serious concerns over what he describes as the disappointing performance of Senator David Jimkuta in the National Assembly.
In a strongly worded statement titled "Senator David Jimkuta'sRepresentation in Southern Taraba: A Wake-Up Call Before It's Too Late", Ambassador Garba expressed the growing frustration among constituents—particularly the youth—regarding what they view as the Senator's exclusionary and underwhelming leadership style.
"We had great hope and expectations when we voted Senator Jimkuta into office. Unfortunately, what we have witnessed so far has been a glaring display of sentiment-driven, divisive, and exclusionary leadership," Garba said.
According to him, the core of the issue lies not only in the Senator's performance, but in the influence of individuals within his inner circle.
"It is evident that those close to the Senator are either misleading him or shielding him from the reality on the ground. The voices of the people, especially the youth who form the backbone of his support base, are being ignored," he stated.
Garba emphasized that his message is not a personal attack but a call for reflection, accountability, and course correction. He urged Senator Jimkuta to reconnect with the grassroots and adopt a more inclusive and equitable approach to governance before public confidence is completely eroded.
"This is a dangerous path that can only lead to regret—for him and for the people who placed their trust in him," he warned. "There is still time to salvage his legacy, but the window is closing fast."
The youth leader further cautioned other lawmakers not to follow what he called a "regrettable style of leadership," reminding them that public office is a sacred trust, not a tool for personal or political favoritism.
"The people of Southern Taraba deserve better. We deserve a leader who listens, who carries everyone along, and who works for the collective interest of all," he concluded.
