Kaka Chiefdom, MAPCA Letters to Gov Ishaku Misleading, Baseless- Chief of Mambilla

First Class Chief and Paramount Ruler of Mambilla, Dr Shehu Audu Baju II has waded into the crisis of petitions rocking the Kaka people in his kingdom, telling the Taraba state Governor Arch Darius Dickson Ishaku to disregard petitions wrongfully classifying some indigenous Kaka people as Cameroonians

 

The Chief of Mambilla in a letter to the Governor described a letter dated 10th March 2021 and signed by Secretary of the (MAPCA) Mambilla Progressive Cultural Association Mr  Moses John among others as misleading and aimed to cause confusion on the Mambilla particularly among the Kaka people.

 

The noted that the public circulation of this letter is gradually eroding the peaceful coexistence enjoyed by the Mambilla and Kaka people over the years.

"This developing and unfolding ugly situation runs contrary to your motto, give me peace and I will give you development," the First Class Chief writes Governor Ishaku.

 

The Traditional Ruler said according to their history "the people of Mambilla-Gashaka Native Authority (Kurmi inclusive), became Nigerian in April 1961, after the UNO's organized plebiscite.

 

"My father the Chief of Mambilla Chiroma Audu Baju and the parents of the under listed tribes and kaka in particular voted overwhelmingly to stay in Nigeria, these areas include: Mubi, Gwaza, Dikwa etc. Other tribes that participated in the exercise include: Mambilla, Fulani, Panso and Kambu, this is our brief history.

 

The Chief clarified that  the Kaka persons listed in the said letter are not Cameroonian's but indigenous Nigerians.

 

"That the kaka stakeholders listed in that letter imported Ambazonian rebels from Cameroon is absolutely false, baseless, and misleading, capable of breaking down peace and order.

 

"The false allegation that the Dan Iya Mambilla Rev Dr. Victor Falack, purchased the position, was not only and insult to my personality, but derogatory to this highly revered Chiefdom, the Mambilla Chiefdom. This is unacceptable and the Chiefdom seriously frowns at it.

 

"The allegations raised in that letter against these Kaka stakeholders are false and baseless but borne out of envy and personal sentiments. Some of the personalities listed in that letter are highly respected key Kaka stakeholders with very high reputations such as Bishop Isaac (CAN Vice Chairman, Taraba State), Hon Joseph Kachebiri (Retired permanent secretary and serving Special Adviser), Rev Dr. Victor Falack (Clergy Council Member in Mambilla Traditional Council and Bursar, Taraba State University), Hon Mrs. Esther Yenda (former vice chairperson, Sardauna local government area and current PDP woman leader, Taraba State), Mr. Tommy Magbuin (Retired INEC Nation Director), and Dr. Henry Yenda (Senior Lecturer, Taraba State). Classifying these noble personalities as common criminals or sponsors of international rebels is most unfortunate, the least to say.

 

"Your Excellency, the allegations raised in that petition are not only baseless but capable of distorting the peace currently being enjoyed on the Mambilla Plateau, such allegations cannot the stand the test of litigation. The signatory and supporting personalities behind this letter are person's working against the success of your Government and should be called to order or handed over to the law enforcement agency before they cause a breakdown of peace and order." Dr Shehu Audu Baju II wrote.

 

 

" For us we consider drug addiction to be a disease that has to be treated and anyone who is addicted has a problem that will remain with them for the rest of their lives except when checked "

 

In her opening remark, the brain behind the rehabilitation centre Anna Ishaku says drug abuse was partly responsible for most of the crimes threatening the country today and calls for support against it.

 

She thanked members of the Forum for coming to Taraba State to give support to her efforts at taking addicted youths out of the drug debacle.

 

"Drug abuse has been identified as a leading factor of very violent crimes including domestic violence, armed robbery, banditry, rape, and spread of HIV/AIDS among several infectious diseases "

 

"Despite all these evidences and reality of the menace of drug abuse, the number of youth involved remain very high"

 

" We are therefore calling on all and sundry to please assist to help them grow out of this drug dependency and into self-worthy dignified and self-respectful individuals "

 

Anna Ishaku had raised funds and built the drug victims rehabilitation centre in Jalingo which was commissioned by Gov Ishaku and handed over to the state government during the visit of the Northern Governors Wives.
