Residents Seek Urgent Government Intervention on Takanabaq Road
Residents and road users along Takanabaq Road in Taraba State have appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas and the State Ministry of Works to urgently intervene in the construction and rehabilitation of the road, citing worsening conditions and growing hardship.
In a statement signed by Abdulsamad Jibril Abdullahi on behalf of concerned residents, the community described the road as critical to daily movement and economic activities but lamented its current deplorable state.
According to the residents, the situation becomes more severe during the rainy season when the road is almost impassable, leading to delays, accidents and significant economic losses.
They noted that commuters, traders, farmers, students and other residents are heavily affected, with limited access to schools, healthcare facilities and markets.
The community emphasized that road infrastructure remains vital to economic growth and development, acknowledging ongoing efforts by the Taraba State Government in executing road projects across the state.
They, however, urged the government to prioritize Takanabaq Road to ease transportation challenges and improve connectivity in the area.
“We call on the government, relevant agencies and stakeholders to work together to ensure the speedy construction of this important road,” the statement read.
The residents expressed optimism that the state government would respond positively to their appeal, stressing that improved road infrastructure would boost economic activities and enhance the quality of life of the people.
They added that access to good roads is a necessity for development and not a luxury.
