Security Sources Blame Gov. Ishaku For Fresh Crisis in Dan-Anacha

• Bloodbath looms as Governor Ishaku insist 'Its Kwararafa' not Dan-Anacha

 Armed groups are already mobilizing for a showdown in Dan-Anacha Village over fresh attempt to effect its renaming to Kwararafa Village.

The Tiv community are protesting  the erection of a signboard bearing Kwararafa in a secondary school in the town following renaming of the area from Dananacha to Kwararafa Village stressing that it violate the peace agreement reached with the Jukun community recently.

Taraba Truth and Facts gathered that the Jukun were unhappy with Tiv for refusing to allow  erection of the sign board  which resulted in  exchange of gun shots by both sides on Saturday.

Both groups are however mobilizing militias for a showdown to claim ownership of the Village popularly known for its Yam business.
''The Jukun has vowed to ensure the signboard with Kwararafa stays and the Tivs are planning to resist it, the recent press statement by the governor calling the village Kwararafa has also boast the morale of the Jukuns, its like an endorsement of their action. Maybe Federal government should step in because the people no longer have confidence in the leadership of the state government to fairly address problems when the Jukuns are involve, you know our governor is a Jukun man,' a villager told Taraba Truth and Facts.

Also Several security sources said the government was advised against effecting the change name ''at period peace was just returning to the state particularly between the Tiv and Jukun.''

''The state just came out of a terribly internal crisis involving the Tivs and Jukuns with hundreds of lives lost, security reports said the action be put on hold till a reasonable level of understanding is reached between the Jukun and Tiv.

The source said they were surprise when a circular was issued  directing that the school name be changed from Government Secondary School Dan-Anacha to Government Secondary School Kwararafa.''
The security source faulted the state government for 'messing up' the peace arrangement in the state.
''Many efforts were put together to achieve the peace we have in the Southern Zone today, honestly it has been messed up because if not properly managed this crisis will escalate to the Southern Zone and we would return to where we were three months agao,'' the security source said.
Mr. Kelvin Katyo of Taraba Tiv Youth Council told our correspondent that Governor Darius Ishaku had on the 15th November 2019, in a letter through the Executive Secretary Post-school Management Board directed the name change which did not go down well with the members of the community.
According to him, students of the school who were not comfortable with the name change staged a protest demanding that the Governor reverted the decision but were attacked by irate youths.
“The Chief of Tiv in Gassol, Zaki Erentsa Simon, had prevailed on the Tiv people in the town to remain calm after the protest.
“But in the night, some people suspected to be Governor Ishaku’s sympathisers attacked and burned 14 houses belonging to the Tiv people in the town.
“We wonder why the Governor is doing what he is doing now. We don’t need a name change now because it will further escalate tension in the State,” he said.
Gov. Ishaku not happy with crisis
Taraba State Governor,  His Excellency Arc.  Darius Dickson Ishaku has sued for peace among residents of Kwararafa village, in Gassol Local Government Area of the state, following an outbreak of crisis among the residents during the weekend.

Gov Ishaku is unhappy with frequent resort to violence by people who have lived together for decades as good neighbours and noted that this is never the right solution for disagreements among people and communities. He said whatever the issues that may be involved and whatever the depth of the feelings and sentiments that those issues generate,  dialogue remains the best approach for achieving peaceful resolution.
He is unhappy and deeply concerned about the turn of events in Kwararafa and has directed security agencies to intervene to restore peace quickly.
The Governor advised residents of Kwararafa village to cooperate with security agencies deployed to the area to facilitate the quick return of nomalcy to the village.
